Why is it necessary to submit my personal information, as a parent(s), in regards to proving my child's residency for tuition purposes?

Students seeking Florida residency for tuition purposes are required to submit documentation to TCC that proves their residency. The first step in deciding what type of documentation is required is to determine if you (the student) is dependent or independent. Dependent students are required to submit the documentation proving the residency of their parent or legal guardian. Independent students are required to submit documentation validating their independent status. Students under the age of 24 are typically considered dependent unless they can prove that they satisfy one of the following criteria:

  • is married;
  • has a dependent child who receives more than half of their support from the student;
  • has other dependents who live with and receive more than half of their support from the student;
  • is a veteran of the United States Armed Forces or is currently serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces for purposes other than training;
  • both parents are deceased or the student is or was (until age 18) either a 1) ward of the court or 2) in foster care.

A full detailed list of appropriate documentation necessary to complete the residency portion of the Admissions process can be found on the TCC Residency Declaration Form.  Please follow the link to download the form.  Once completed, the form along with the appropriate documentation needs to be electronically sent to the Admissions Office at ar@tcc.fl.edu.
