Informing Faculty & Staff of a Death in the TCC Family

Below are guidelines for informing TCC faculty and staff of a death in the TCC family. However, each case is different and in some cases, specifics must be adjusted to fit the situation.

If you learn of the death of a current or former employee or other member of the TCC family, please notify the Communications and Marketing Office at (850) 201-6049 or communications@tcc.fl.edu.

  • Communications and Marketing will send out a College-wide notice concerning the death of any current or former employee, including OPS staff members and adjunct faculty. The employee’s immediate supervisor has the responsibility of obtaining the message contents.
  • The Dean of Student Services will send out a College-wide notice concerning the death of any current student.
  • Communications and Marketing will send out a College-wide notice concerning the death of any current employee’s spouse/partner, parent or child – with the approval and content of the message approved by the employee. The employee’s immediate supervisor has the responsibility of obtaining the message contents.
  • The President will send out a College-wide message concerning the death of former or current trustees and presidents.
